The 2018 Monsanto Farm Walk was hosted by 2017 Monsanto Cotton Growers of the Year, the Toscan family, of Cavaso Farming. More than 300 people attended the day at the Darlington Point property in the NSW southern valleys.
The farm walk gave growers and industry members the chance to take a look at Cavaso Farming’s operations first-hand.
An irrigated cropping enterprise, Cavaso Farming sits on 4200 hectares across eight properties at Darlington Point and Coleambally. The operation incorporates cotton, maize, prunes, popcorn, beef cattle and wheat.
Cotton Australia CEO, Adam Kay, commended the Southern Valleys Cotton Growers Association on organising a brilliant event, which gave attendees great insight into the Toscans’ innovative production practices.
“Cavaso Farming produced its first cotton crop just eight years ago, and it is remarkable how the Toscans’ drive for excellence has produced such an impressive result in a short time. The annual Australian Cotton Industry Awards recognise high achievement in all aspects of cotton production, and has found an extraordinary exemplar in Cavaso Farming,” Mr Kay said.
