Five fantastic grower finalists, countless kilometres in the air and many questions later, the cotton awards grower judging tour is complete. From Gunnedah to Goondiwindi, Chinchilla to Rowena to Warren, the calibre of the cotton farming operations visited was outstanding. Innovative, productive, efficient, professional and clean farms employing best management practices (BMP) wherever possible.
Thank you to the growers and their families for welcoming the judging tour on farm and showing them the inner workings of each operation. The future of the industry could not be in better hands and the contributions these growers are making to industry is invaluable. The judges thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet the finalists.
We can’t say too much about the results at this stage, but we can confirm the judges were extremely impressed by the kindness and true country hospitality of the hosts.
Thanks to each of the growers for answering all questions both on and off the camera. They were all great sports and even agreed to dress up carnivale style for the awards night films! More to come, watch this space.
Thanks again Bernie Beirhoff (Rowena, ‘Avondale’), Peter Lennox (Gunnedah, ‘Battery Hill’), Greg and Maryann Bender (Chinchilla, ‘Burradoo Plains’), Brett Corish (Goondiwindi, ‘Mundine’) and Glen and Narelle Whittaker (Warren, ‘Wingfield).
